“No-dig” drain descaling with FlexShaft

Video Transcript

No-dig drain descaling is a specialist service carried out by Aspect’s engineers.

Scale gradually builds up in underground pipes over many years, reducing the flow rate of water and resulting in blockages. Water is draining slower than usual at this property. Our engineer checks it with CCTV and sees that it needs descaling.

First, they carry out high-pressure water jetting in the pipes to clear any waste or loose debris. Then, specialist descaling equipment is inserted into the drain opening and an electric drill is used to spin the shaft and chains inside the pipe in a controlled way. It can be pushed up to 20 metres along. The chains expand and remove the solid build up of scale from wall to wall, and are powerful enough to remove plaster and cement from drainage systems.

A final camera inspection confirms it’s now clear of scale. They show the result to the customer and provide advice on how best to maintain the drain.

If you’re experiencing blockages or any other drainage problems, our experts are ready to help. Thanks for watching. Check out our other videos in our drainage series. Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel to keep up to date with maintenance advice.
