Damp Survey

If the cause of damp or mould inside a property is unknown, ignoring the problem or painting over the signs of dampness will only allow it to get worse. A damp survey is designed to assess risks to the property’s structural integrity, maintain its value, and safeguard the health of the occupants.

Our damp surveyors will share a detailed independent report after their thorough survey. They have years of experience treating rising damp, penetrating damp, condensation problems, and hidden leaks.

Damp surveys are the right choice for homeowners, landlords, tenants, and homebuyers wanting an accurate diagnosis and to manage potential health risks. Find out why more people in the South East and East of England trust us for their damp and leak problems than anyone else.

Damp survey or leak detection investigation?

Damp survey

A damp survey aims to identify and diagnose the presence of excess moisture and dampness within a property. It tries to determine the type of damp present, the extent of the problem, and the cause. The survey also includes recommendations on the processes needed to resolve the issue.

Please note that damp surveys are “non-invasive”, meaning building fabric is typically not disturbed. If further investigation is needed to confirm the cause of the problem, this will be recommended in the report.

Leak detection investigation

While a damp survey aims to identify the extent and source of moisture within a property, it may not be able to pinpoint the exact source of the problem.

In contrast, a leak detection investigation is recommended where an active leak is suspected. Using a series of trace and access methods to pinpoint the suspected source of a leak or water ingress, the aim is to stop the leak after exposing it for visual confirmation.

When a leak investigation is recommended

  • When there is water dripping
  • When pressure loss is detected in a plumbing or heating system
  • When the area of water damage gets worse after a bathroom or toilet is used
  • When water bills are higher than expected
  • When a significant moisture patch or water staining has appeared quickly

Our experts are ready to answer any of your questions about booking either a damp survey or a leak detection investigation.
