When a toilet becomes blocked, most people try a chemical product to clear it. If a first attempt doesn’t work, be wary of using another one. Mixing different chemicals can damage uPVC drainage pipes. Chemical reactions can take place that could thin pipes by corrosion. Take care using a drain snake as excess force can break a hole in pipes and cause flooding.

Our expert drainage engineers are ready to help with any blocked toilet or soil pipe problems. With years of experience and a range of professional equipment at hand, they can investigate and clear any blockage quickly.

With availability 24/7 we can schedule someone to visit at any time. They’ll fix the issue and provide expert advice on how to avoid future problems.

Will flushing clear a blocked toilet?

A clogged or blocked toilet can happen as a result of either the build-up of multiple insoluble items that have been building up over a period of time, or a large amount of material being flushed away at once, toilet paper for example.

If you flush a full cistern of water into a toilet that appears to be blocked you’re taking a risk that the weight of water will be enough to clear the blockage. This is often not the case and the toilet could easily overflow.

For most people, the prospect of trying to clear a blocked toilet isn’t a pleasant one. Even if you have a standard plunger and a pair of rubber gloves at hand. It assumes the blockage is within the trap of the toilet itself. However, more often than not, it’s further down the pipework or in the soil stack.

Our specialist drainage engineers are on call 24/7 to help, no matter what type of blockage you have.
