The overall weight and the distribution of heavy items across your shelves once they’ve been hung are important to bear in mind. However, the most important consideration when thinking about the weight you can place on your shelves is the fixings that have been used to hang them.
Screws, bolts and hooks will be able to take different loads based on the fabric of the wall the shelves are being hung on. For example, a greater load could be safely placed on the same screw and raw plug if it’s secured in a brick wall rather than a plasterboard wall.
If you’re trying to estimate the amount of weight you can safely pace on your shelves don’t forget to allow for the weight of the shelves themselves too.
Before hanging shelves an Aspect handyman will discuss with you the items you’d like to place on them. This will allow him to use suitable fixings.
